Frequently asked

Charter

What is APA?
APA, or the Advanced Provisioning Allowance, is the fund that keeps your charter running effortlessly behind the scenes. It covers variable expenses such as fuel, food, berths, and guest requests, allowing the crew to prepare everything in advance. Managed transparently by the captain, it's spent only as needed — and any unused balance is returned at the end of your charter.
How much VAT do I need to pay?
VAT depends on where your charter takes place and how it's structured. In France it's typically 20%, Italy 22%, Spain 21%, and Croatia 13%. Other destinations follow different rules depending on cruising area and usage. We'll always advise you clearly before booking, so there are no surprises.
What time of year can I charter a yacht?
Yachting has no fixed season and can be enjoyed at any time of year. The world's cruising grounds shift with the weather, offering ideal conditions somewhere, always. From summer in the Mediterranean to winter in the Caribbean and beyond, there's always a perfect place to be on the water.
How far in advance should I book?
While last-minute charters are sometimes possible, the best yachts are usually secured well in advance. Booking around 6 months ahead gives you access to the strongest selection, preferred dates, and more flexibility to tailor every detail. For peak periods, planning ahead ensures you get exactly what you want, without compromise.
Where can I charter a yacht?
You can charter a yacht almost anywhere in the world. From the Mediterranean and the Caribbean to remote islands and lesser-known coastlines, the options are truly global. Seasons shift, destinations change, but there's always a yacht in the right place. Wherever you want to go, we'll guide you there.
How do I pick a yacht?
Start by browsing our collection and saving the yachts that speak to you. Selecting your favourites helps us understand your style, preferences, and priorities. Once you send an enquiry, we refine the shortlist, advise objectively, and match you with the perfect yacht. Simple, personal, and designed to get you onboard faster.
How many people can come?
Most charter yachts are licensed for up to 12 guests, which covers the vast majority of private charters worldwide. There are a few exceptions, such as certain yachts operating in Croatia and the Galápagos Islands, where higher guest numbers are permitted. We'll always advise what's possible for your chosen destination.
What should I bring?
Your swimwear and a smile! Beyond that, pack light and effortless — soft daywear, evening pieces, and something warm for nights at anchor. The yacht is fully equipped, and the crew takes care of the rest. Less luggage, more freedom, and space to enjoy every moment onboard.
What can I do onboard?
Life onboard is entirely yours to shape. Swim straight from the deck, explore hidden bays, enjoy long lunches, lively evenings, or complete stillness at anchor. From water toys and workouts to fine dining, celebrations, or total switch-off, the yacht adapts to your rhythm. Every day unfolds exactly as you want it to.
Should I give the crew a gratuity?
Crew gratuities are customary but always at your discretion. If you feel the crew has delivered an exceptional experience, a tip is a meaningful way to show appreciation. We're happy to guide you on common ranges, but the decision is entirely yours.
Are these yachts crewed?
Yes, all our charter yachts come fully crewed. From the captain to the chef, deck crew and interior — everything is handled for you. Their role is to anticipate your needs, ensure your safety, and deliver a seamless experience from start to finish. All yachts and crew are also fully insured.
What food is on the menu?
The menu is entirely tailored to you. Before charter, we collect your preferences, dietary requirements, and favourites. From relaxed family-style meals to fine dining and special requests, the chef designs everything around your taste. If you can imagine it, it can be served onboard.
Can I change the itinerary?
Yes, flexibility is part of the experience. Weather, mood, or a new discovery can shape the day as it unfolds. The captain adapts the itinerary whenever possible, so you're free to follow the moment. That freedom is what yachting is all about.
What happens when it rains?
Rain simply changes the pace. It's the perfect time for board games, cooking lessons with the chef, or settling in to binge-watch movies in complete comfort. The yacht becomes a cosy retreat, where shared moments often turn into the highlights of the charter.
Are there medical facilities onboard?
Yes, charter yachts are equipped with onboard medical supplies and safety equipment. Crew members are required to hold internationally recognised health, safety, and medical certifications. This ensures they are trained to respond calmly and correctly in any situation. Your wellbeing is always a priority.
Are my kids allowed to come?
Only if they have been nice, haha! In all seriousness, children are very welcome onboard. Yachts are family-friendly, and the crew is experienced in hosting guests of all ages. With the right setup and supervision, it's a safe, relaxed, and unforgettable experience for everyone.
Can I smoke a cigar?
That depends on the yacht. Smoking, including cigars, is usually permitted only in designated outdoor areas and never inside. Each yacht has its own policy, which we'll confirm in advance. That way, expectations are clear before you step onboard.
Can I wear shoes onboard?
Shoes are generally a no onboard. Most yachts are barefoot to protect the decks, with the exception of shoes kept strictly for onboard use. Heels are not permitted. Once barefoot, you'll understand why it feels better that way.
How many days is a yacht charter?
Most yacht charters last between 1 week and 10 days, which offers the perfect balance of exploration and relaxation. Three weeks allows you to slow down and discover destinations more deeply. A month or longer turns the yacht into a true escape, where you fully disconnect from everyday life.
What is included in my charter?
Your charter rate includes the yacht itself and a professional, fully dedicated crew. All other running expenses — such as fuel, food, berths, and guest requests — are covered separately through the APA. This structure keeps costs transparent and the experience seamless from start to finish.
